David Cantrell

David grew up in the San Fernando Valley and moved to Santa Clarita with his family in 2001. David was a securities trader for 25 years and has been a mortgage lender with American Family Funding for the last 7 years. David has also been the pole vault coach at West Ranch High School for the last 10 years, and he is the current Chairman of the Valley Industry Association (VIA). During all this time, David has always had a love for movies and theater. As a child, David can remember his mother taking him and his brother to see classics like Jesus Christ Superstar, The Wizard of Oz, and The Ten Commandments. From the 1970s on, David waited in line to see all nine Star Wars movies and, in the 21st century, believes that The Lord of the Rings was a pivotal series that really moved the industry forward.

David has also enjoyed independent films that have had a great impact on the making of movies, like Parasite, Memento, The Blair Witch Project, and most Tarantino films. David may have been in the finance industry for his entire working life but with his brother a PhD in Theater and his best friend a television Production Designer, he has always celebrated the arts and their influence on society. Oh, David's mother was also born on Star Wars Day, May the 4th, so one can say that it is in the genes.
